Hi there
I have a 383 small block in my 68 and I get a 65-70 psi reading in the gauge. Is it too much?? |

My engine, with 20/50 mineral oil idles at 60psi when cold. When its hot and has been hot for a while, it idles at 25 psi and will increase to 50 or 60 when my rpm's increase to above 5k.
I wouldnīt worry. |

If the engine is at normal operating temp, it is normal a reading between 15-25 psi idling.
If cold, your reading is normal too. Do not accelerate it too much when cold, and wait till reaching normal op temp.
My 2 cents.

| You need to check the pressure when thoroughly warm. 65 psi is quite normal when cold |
