I was planning to swap my manual for an automatic.
Is it a good idea to use a 3000 stall speed for a mostly street application with ocassional strip use??
please suggest.

a friend of mine is using a 3000 stall speed with no trouble. Only street use. Grocery getter car.
Only problm is excessive heat.
But nothinī good tranny rad canīt solve. |

I agree with BigFanCamaro.
a 3000 stall converter is not crazy for street use. There are other options though but you have to think what you want. And choose the best one that fits your needs.
A 3000 stall while get you out of the hole faster in launches. but will generate much more heat than a 2000 stall conv.
At 2000 rpm yor 3000 converter will be slipping, thus increasing heat.
Like an old hot rodder once said, heat kills trannys, soooo if you stick with that converter for street use, get a sturdy transmission cooler.
