| Hello, I am new here and own a base 327 - 2bbl., Powerglide trans., Boero Red '67 Coupe I am in the process of restoring. I am having a lot of trouble trying to find information on finding a correct jack, which the car is missing. The car was built 11A (first week in Nov. 66, which also happens to be my Birthday) in Los Angeles, the inter plant build code up in the top right corner is A638, which I am told the A means it was built the first build day of that month. OK, my question is, can you give me an approximate correct date for the jack? And can you explain the coding procedure? How tall should this jack be? Did they use the same jack as Chevelles because of the higher bumpers? Any help will be tremendously appreciated. Thanx! |

Hello and welcome. I don't think I've ever seen that much detail involving a jack. Most of the shafts, ratchets and bases were the same through out the GM line. What you need to be concerned with is the load rest. It is a 67 Camaro only item. They pop up on ebay from time to time and can be bought new from most restoration parts vendors.
Oh, and happy birthday since it's now the second week of November. |

| Thanks for the reply. And I appreciate your input, but the reason I posted the question was because I am finding out there are codes for what is correct per each vehicle(and dates) Even a code on the handle. What I'm hearing though is that these codes are somewhat controversial. I'm finding that there were about 4 or 5 companies that produced jacks in any given year, and that they did not all follow the same guidelines. I guess what I'm looking for is some kind of reasonable explanation of these codes. Thanks! |

| I have read some of the same stuff and even the experts on Camaro Research Group don't have any definitive answer. You could go there and ask...... http://www.camaros.org/forum/ |
