Not sure where to post this question. I have a 68 camaro 327 with a 350 turbo trans and a 2200 rpm stall converter. When the car warms up and gets to normal operating temp. It runs very ruff at low speeds. For example if i stop the car then slowly move foward or backward it feels as if the brakes or transmision are "sticking". The car could be stopped, put into reverse and wont move until I give it gas. This problem only happens when the car warms up (I assume this is due to either trans fluid or brake fluid heating up and expanding?) and is at low speeds (parking lots, backing into the driveway etc.) Not sure if this is a problem with the differential, trans or brakes

Thanks for any suggestions

I think part of your problem is the 2200 rpm stall speed of your torque converter. Generally, that means your transmission should not start turning the driveshaft until the rpms are at @ 2200 rpm. You could install a stock rpm torque converter to cure this issue.

The rough running at low rpm is probably not related to the torque converter. The two most likely causes are timing and vacuum leak.
Check your timing with the vacuum advanced plugged and adjust as necessary. A quick test for a vacuum leak; with the engine warmed up and running, use a spray bottle with water (or a can of starter fluid) and spray around the carb and intake. If the engine rpm changes, you have a vacuum leak.

A less likely problem, but still possible, is that your carb needs to be cleaned or your low speed idle needs adjustment.

arocars,

Thanks for the reply. I figured out it's actually a differential issue. When the car is on jack stands (rear wheels of the ground) they spin fine fowards and backwards with no noise or obstruction. When the car is on the ground and moving foward or reverse, as soon as you turn the front wheels there is a "clank" coming from the rear differential. I havent opened up the pumkin yet, not sure if I might be bighting off more than i can chew if i open it up. Any suggestions on what might be wrong with the differential? All i have done so far is check the fluid and its fine. By the way its a 10 bolt posi.

you dont have some kind of posi in there. Some of them make clanks as they lock or unlock especially while turning
