I am not 100% certain, but I do not think 69 Camaro's came with clutch fans. I do not think they came along until the seventies.
If you fan isn't making it into the shroud, then you might have a Corvette short style water pump. The Corvettes had less room between the engine and radiator, so they used a shorter water pump. Also, the entire fan does not sit all the way inside the shroud, part of the blades are still exposed.
Check your engine timing. An improperly tuned engine can run hot.
Check radiator flow yourself. Start with the engine cold, open the radiator cap, and turn the car on. Let it run until the thermostat opens. You should be able to see the water flow across the top of the radiator. At some point the radiator will want to boil over, you'll see the water level rising. Shut the engine down before then. With the engine off, feel across the front and back of the radiator fins and make sure you dont feel any obviously cold spots. Cold spots would indicate coolant flow problems.
Use antifreeze mixed at 50/50. Do NOT run straight water. |

i found out that some 69 camaros came with a clutch fan and some did not there is now sure way of telling if it had one or not i put one one my car anyway so well see what happens anyway to reply to the other i have a long water pump and engine is tuned correctly im an auto technician at a chrysler dealer for 10 years should now something by now it just has me baffled that the fan wont reach the shroud even with the clutch fan on it i still have to run a 2 inch spacer for it to be half in the shroud |
